Attending the GOGE AFRICA 25th anniversary festival was nothing short of a journey through the heart of African culture and heritage. I spotted her at the Tafawa Balewa Square area as she approached me, asking for directions to Onikan Stadium, the festival venue. As luck would have it, we were headed to the same place! We decided to walk together, enjoying each other's company, and quickly bonded over our shared excitement for the event.

While the items were beautifully crafted, I noticed that many of them were quite costly. For example, I priced a cowrie necklace at one booth, and it was listed for ten thousand naira. Mariam was also drawn to a stunning gown, but the vendor’s price was twenty thousand naira. These high prices highlighted the value placed on handcrafted items but also made us think twice about making any purchases.
