Hi there, Explorers! My name is Seyi Dada, though you probably know me as Seyi Explore. I’m excited to finally share a bit more about myself, the journey that led me here, and what inspires my love for exploring. If you’ve ever wondered about the person behind the name, this is your chance to get to know me better!

Personal Life

I was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, and grew up in Isolo, Lagos, also in Southwest Nigeria. My love for exploring started early, I’ve always been curious about the world around me. Whether it was childhood adventures or my more recent solo trips, discovering hidden gems and experiencing new cultures has always been a big part of my life. My freelance job gave me the opportunity to move around Lagos and a few other parts of Nigeria, deepening my love for exploration and enriching my experiences in new environments.

Education

I studied Food Technology at both Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, located in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria. I earned a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma during my time at these institutions. My academic journey not only deepened my understanding of food science but also helped shape my passion for storytelling and exploring the diverse cultures tied to food and destinations. After graduating, I had the unique opportunity to serve in Sokoto, in Northwest Nigeria, during my NYSC year. This experience, traveling across different parts of the country, significantly influenced my decision to pursue content creation, as it gave me a firsthand look at the rich diversity of cultures and landscapes within Nigeria.

Interests and Passions

My interests span across culture, arts, design thinking, entrepreneurship, storytelling, and photography. I also love volunteering in community-based organizations and find immense joy in supporting and seeing small businesses grow. I’m a big fan of the philosophy “start small, grow big”, believing in the power of humble beginnings. Through ‘Seyi Explore,’ I hope to inspire others to see the beauty and magic in every destination, from the heart of Nigeria to far beyond.

Favorite Music

I’m a mood-based listener, and my playlist reflects that. Depending on how I feel, I explore a variety of genres, including Fuji, Apala, Juju, Afrobeat, Alternative Rock, Soul, Folk, Pop, Hip-hop, Rap, Jazz, Reggae, Blues, R&B, Dancehall, Gospel, and more. Live music performances are one of my favorite experiences, they bring such energy and connection.

I also have a special admiration for artists like Brymo, Asa, and Beautiful Nubia, whose music beautifully combines art and storytelling with genres like Afrobeat, Soul, and Folk, creating deeply resonant and inspiring tunes.

Zodiac Sign and Personality

As a Gemini, I like to think I bring adaptability, curiosity, and energy to everything I do. I’m also an ambivert, which means I enjoy meeting new people and socializing, but I equally value my quiet moments. This balance helps me connect with others while staying grounded during my travels.

What Drives Me

My journey as a content creator started with a simple dream: to showcase the incredible beauty of Nigeria and destinations around the world. From breathtaking locations and unique cultures to mouthwatering foods, I aim to inspire others to explore and appreciate the wonders our world has to offer. Seeing people connect with and enjoy my content keeps me going every day. I could easily get bored with a 9-5 job, which is one of the main reasons I’m choosing a path that allows me to explore freely and share those experiences through content creation.

Fun Facts About Me

  • My first trip or excursion was to the National Art Theater in Lagos during my primary school days, and it remains a cherished memory.
  • I love Egusi soup and vegetables with any type of swallow, it’s my go-to dish, and I recommend it to everyone!
  • Here’s a fun quirk: I can be the most silent in the room or the loudest, depending on the circumstances. I also enjoy sleeping to calm my brain and recharge.
  • I love to explore virtually everything, from food and places to arts, music, languages, fashion, and more.

Why Excursions Matter: Reflections from My Time at Isolo Secondary School

Ancient Heads Carved in Stone - Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove In Nigeria, excursions are often viewed as a luxury reserved for students in private schools, leaving their peers in government schools with limited exposure to cultural and educational trips. Personally, I attended Isolo Secondary School, a government school in Lagos, for six years without any excursions. I am not sure if pupils in public primary schools then had the same opportunity I had when I went on an excursion to the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos while at Beverly Children's School, a private primary school.
